Second Court of Mubarak Held in Cairo

The trial of former Egyptian President Mubarak Horni will continue today, Monday, August 15, 2011. The court this time will bring the Mubarak regime's military leaders as witnesses.

As reported by Al Jazeera, the Egyptian court will summon the Army Chief of Egypt Mohamed Hussein Tantawi to recount his role while attacking demonstrators in Cairo earlier this year, which killed 800 civilians. Testimony Tantawi touted as the next Mubarak's fate.

"Testimony Tantawi will help the court determine whether Mubarak gave the order to the Minister of Interior, Habib al-Adli to fire on the demonstrators, or Adli ordered to act on their own without the boss," Mubarak said one lawyer who declined to be named.

Tantawi, has served as Minister of Defense on the Mubarak regime for two decades. When Mubarak resigned February 11, he served as Head of the Military Council of the provisional government of Egypt.

Attendance Tantawi is the demand of the prosecutors in the first court Mubarak held August 3. Besides Tantawi, who also asked to attend are former intelligence chief Omar Suleiman and about 1,600 others. They all will prove Mubarak's role in the deaths of hundreds of demonstrators.

In the first trial, Mubarak presented in an iron cage in the auditorium Police Academy, Cairo, along with his two sons, Gamal and Alaa Mubarak. They are accused of alleged corruption and killings of citizens.

In addition, also on trial of former Interior Minister Habib el-Adly and six senior police officials of Egypt, who was convicted for murder and attempted murder of anti-regime demonstrators Mubarak.
